Eir’s Sacred Well is a healing rite originally by Suki Moyne. I have had this rite in my grimoire for a while now and I recently came across it again. I’ve extended it to have practical instructions for those who do and don’t have access to natural outdoor water sources to perform it.

Ritual Materials
:

  • A bowl
  • Spring water to fill the bowl
  • A piece of red or green cloth
    • Red for acute condition needing immediate treatment
    • Green for long term illness
  • Red thread or cord
  • A Handful of small stones in a small bowl (pebbles and plain rocks fine – will dispose of after spell)
  • Crystals to imbue with healing energy to carry (Alexandrite, Herkimer Diamond, Pearl, and/or Quartz.)

Set up your ritual:

If you have access to a moving body of water, you can do this sans water bowl. If you’re using a body of water, you can utilize stones on the shore rather than a bowl of pebbles. Make a small pile of stones on the shore for you to use when the time comes.

If you are indoors, you can set up your bowl with natural spring or well water to fill it as well as your bowl of small pebbles.  Place the bowl of water in the center, bowl of pebbles on one side, cloth and string on the other side. Place your crystals anywhere that is easily accessible.

Your fabric only needs to be a 3 inch square. Anything bigger is probably overkill. You’ll only want to use pebbles small enough to fit inside said square. The smaller the fabric & rock, the smaller the completed thing is that you need to bury.

First an invocation to Eir is spoken over the bowl or body of water

Place your hands over the water and say:

Hail to the Healer of the Holy Well,
To Asgard’s woman of soothing hands,
Whose touch knits wounds
And salves the marks of fire.
Friend of Menglad on her high mountain,
Friend of Frigg on her high throne,
Friend of the fallen warrior who asks
For mending and surcease from pain.
May blood be stanched, may flesh be whole,
May you look with generous eyes upon us.

Then take your piece of cloth and draw Eir’s Rune on it. Think about your healing intention as you draw the rune.

Put your hand over the bowl or pile of small stones and say “Goddess Eir, guide me to pick the perfect stone,” then choose one.

Wrap your stone up in the cloth as tight as you can and tie it together with the red string while saying:

Sickle-woman, Bloody-hands, Eir Valkyrie
Cup of joy, best of healers, Eir Copper-hand.
Be afraid of Eir, healing-mountain is near
Kind lady Eir, healing-mountain is near.

Stand or sit in front of your water holding your wrapped stone as well as any crystals you want to imbue with healing power, and drop them one by one into the water and say:

Holy Well of the Goddess Eir
Whose name means Healer
Whose being is Mending,
Wash us with your waters
And wash our loved ones as well.
May all be made whole,
May all be made healthy,
May all be made well.

If you are inside

Take the bowl of water with the stones in it to a place where it can soak in the energy of the Sun while you meditate on the healing. Once you’ve finished meditating, dispose of your water in nature. Pour the water into dirt outside, potted plants, urban gardens or tree pots, etc. Say “May all be made well” as you pour the water.

Bury your wrapped stone in Earth somewhere, in a place that won’t cause any ecological harm. Either outside somewhere or in a small plant pot and potting soil. Leave it somewhere where you won’t think too much about it.

The other crystals are now healing charms. Carry them on your person or give them to the target of your healing spell.

If you are outside

Double check and make sure you can find your rocks. Don’t drop them from too high above the water as they’ll bounce and be lost forever. Place them somewhere still touching water but you know you can find them. Sit on the bank of the water you’re near and take some time to meditate on the healing. When you’ve finished your meditation, rinse your hands in the water and say again “May all be made well”

Bury your wrapped stone in Earth somewhere, in a place that won’t cause any ecological harm. Again, the other crystals are now healing charms. Carry them on your person or give them to the target of your healing spell.
